... i appear to be wearing a dress. this almost never happens! i used to be a total dress maniac, but then i had a change of heart and realised wearing seperates is just a lot more fun. but this one just kinda grabbed me, and i've been looking for something creamy and lace for a while.

it's supposed to be 17c here in norwich tomorrow, which just makes no sense to me.. a week ago it was 0c! i'm not complaining, but england, make your mind up!

firstly i'm going to apologise for not having posted in 2 weeks, that's probably the longest i've ever gone without posting. it's just been far too cold to even want to go outside, but it's getting warmer now (i hope) so i can hopefully get some more snaps soon.

this outfit is kinda french, i guess? but this jumper and shorts just go so well together. worn with some mega comfortable shiny chelsea boots.

pretty simple outfit for a snow day! obviously a coat was worn over this, but i whipped it off for these photos. snow also means a pair of knee-highs over tights. and i'm convinced snow makes me look even more pale...

so, i was tempted by another leather item... but it was also burgundy, and you guys know i have a soft spot for burgundy. plus it was 50% off, i just couldn't say no. well, i could, but i didn't want to!

i'm actually wearing jeans...! i don't know why i don't wear them more often, because they're mega comfortable and versatile. i managed to snag myself this lovely pink pair from topshop, i think they're the really popular pair that always sell out? i can see why, what a great colour! they'll go with so much, including these sort-of loafers that i bought ages ago but never found the perfect thing to match them with... search over!

eek, a pencil skirt! i have to admit, i'm kind of afraid of these... i always feel as though you have to be either hip-less or have killer curves to look good in them, and i'm neither of those things. my middle-section will always be my least favourite, so i surprised myself by buying this skirt. but it's polka dot, so i had to. and i ordered a size up too, just to make sure there wouldn't be any tight clingy-ness. and i quite like it! it was really comfortable, but felt a bit like i was walking around with my knees tied together!

the blurry quality of these photos means my camera is well and truly done for. unless i could pass this kind of photo off as 'artsy'?

topshop overload again, somebody stop me. but just look at how fantastical this blouse is... beads galore in a lovely design, dark green and black (dream combo) and sheer black sleeves to mix it all up. i usually find the topshop sale to be a bit lacklustre, and usually all the good stuff is gone within 30 mins... so finding this little gem was a real YIPPEE moment.

thought i'd try the whole cardigan-over-the-shoulders thing, and i like it. makes things much more casual, even if it is in a kinda try-hard way.

i got my camera working just long enough for my mum to take some outfit photos round the back of my house. (excuse the poor location, i really don't live in a place that's very good for blogging). i couldn't wait any longer to take some photos of my new coat! the colour is so nice, i have the biggest obsession with forest green, so this coat had to be mine. i love the boyfriend fit and the lapels.

still not done with leather. this skirt goes with absolutely everything, and i love how it contrasts with almost every other material - denim, knitwear, sheer. gah.

oops, bad blogger alert... sorry i haven't posted in a while, my camera's still playing up, along with a couple of other reasons too. so just a couple of quick photos today!

it was way too cold to take my coat off, so for now you'll have to trust me that i'm wearing a really lovely shirt. it's all stripey and not sheer, which makes a change.. most blouses these days always seem to be sheer. also making the first of many appearances here is my first cos purchase, this really nice grey wool skirt. i had to wait for it to go in the sale to be able to justify buying it, though!

happy new year! i hope 2012 is a great year for you, me & everybody. 2011 was a bit of a non-event for me, but hopefully 2012 will be everything i want it to be.

i got this lovely duffle coat for christmas (thanks mum & dad...), and it's so lovely. i wanted a coat with a hood, because there's nothing my hair hates more than rain. its practical and stylish!

and, yes, that is a dinosaur around my neck. isn't it beautiful! (but so heavy!)

oh my, a shirt with flamingos on. how amazing? i think this is the most lovely print i've seen in a long time, and the colour of the blouse is just right - kind of a nudey pink. i wore it with pretty much everything black i own! i wanted the blouse to stand out.

i can't believe how close it is to christmas now! i love this time of year, everyone is jollier and the amount of chocolates knocking about always makes me happy.

it turns out that my camera might be broken (insert sad-face here), so these were taken with my iphone - not too shabby, but i'm dying to get my camera working again.

well this is a really special post for me. as some of you already know (thank you so much to everyone for their comments congratulating me!), i'm the current modcloth blogger of the moment!

this is the biggest honour. i'm such a huge modcloth fan, they have the best clothes and i swear that if i was american or the shipping costs to the uk weren't so much, i would buy most of my clothes from there, truly. without getting too sappy, thank you to all who read my blog and make things like this possible, it's amazing. (and of course thank you to modcloth, too for choosing me! i am super flattered!)

velvet shorts! velvet shorts! oh man, these shorts are amazing x10. velvet is usually associated with christmas, but i can tell that i'll be wearing these babies waaay into next year and beyond. also i just bought a black velvet blazer, so i could possibly combine it with these shorts and have a BLACK VELVET SUIT. imagine.

also wearing a lovely navy fishermans jumper which i spent way too much money on. but when you find a perfect item of clothing that you know you'll lose sleep over if you don't buy it.. i kinda had to.

wearing a skirt which i just couldn't resist - i'm trying to wear/buy more patterns, as i've been feeling like all i wear is a jumper and different kind of plain skirt or shorts. but the trouble is i'm so picky with patterns! this one is lovely though, and a different length/tightness to what i'm used to, but it's always fun to try new things.

yes indeed, one more jumper. another excellent new look find, they really are pretty damn good for knitwear at the moment. worn with my leather shorts that i've had for a really long time, they're looking kinda worn and crumpled lately but they are so comfortable, and as you know, i love leather everything in terms of bottom-halves.

i stole my boyfs scarf and turned it into a snood. i swear i couldn't survive winter without snoods.

yep, another new jumper. i'm starting to think i might have a problem... they're pretty much all i buy! but, y'know, it's important to keep warm...

also introducing the shiniest of shiny shoes. they are so perfect, and so comfy too. i've always been a flats girl, you may have noticed that even when i do wear a heel it's always a mid-heel, and always a chunky heel. (one of my pet hates is kitten heels, i truly despise them). on a day-to-day basis i'm in flats i'd say 95% of the time. and these are the best addition to my collection!

just noticed i'm looking down in all these photos. i have no idea why.

i can't get enough of navy. i think it's such a flattering colour, and whilst you're not 'supposed' to wear it with black, i think it looks best with black, actually. to stop the outfit from looking too boring, i threw on this super nice scarf, which goes with a surprising amount of things. i wore this outfit to battle through the crowds in a bid to get most of my christmas shopping done, which was mostly successful - i even managed to buy some presents for myself...! i did swap the boots for converse, though, as there's nothing fun about running about with many, many bags & feeling like your feet are going to die.

okay, so onto some really, really awesome news. i'm one of chictopia's december style icons! i'm absolutely over the moon about this, chictopia is a site i love posting on, and love browsing through the amazing outfits pretty much every day. so this is such an honour, and i still can't quite believe this sort of thing is happening to me and my little old blog! check out chictopia and my profile here.

a few weeks ago, i was contacted my innocent smoothies, who asked me to take part in their big knit campaign. for those of you who aren't aware of it, it involves innocent smoothie bottles being adorned by the cutest little knitted hats. they sit over the bottle top and look amazing. for each bottle sold with a knitted hat on top, innocent smoothies donate money to ageUK. ageUK is a fantastic charity, which helps the elderly through tough times. i know how much i would appreciate their help if anything was to ever happen to my amazing nan, so i was more than happy to help promote this cause.

they sent me a pack of smoothies, each with their own hats, and asked me to take some comical photos using said hats. i jumped at this, as i love both innocent smoothies, and hats. i enjoyed putting them on top of pretty much everything animal-related in my house/garden. i particularly like the little sheep, rocking his green hat like a dude.

i'm going to head over to their facebook page, and post these photos there. for every photo posted, they're going to donate 10p to ageUK. so make sure to look out for these smoothie bottles with the little hats, and please try and spare some money to buy one! you'd get a yummy smoothie, a warm charitable heart, and a hat to put on your pet (or small human) of choice.

oh hello all-topshop outfit. it's kinda embarassing when that happens, but i don't plan it, plus so damn much of my wardrobe is topshop that it's always gonna happen. wearing some pretty autumn colours and a stripe. it was really cold, so i decided to wear a jumper under a cardigan. makes you look slightly like the michelin man but keeps you nice and toasty.

i really love a good stripe. i don't think it's possible to own too many striped things, a philosophy i also apply to polka dots. this outfit isn't anything too fancy, but i think it's made a little bit fancier with this fur collar, which seems to add a kind of elegance to anything you wear it with.

so who's excited for christmas? i know i am. i'm making all my own christmas cards and wrapping paper this year. i can't wait!

wearing the most fun jumper in my ever-expanding jumper collection. i'm pretty sure i'm heading to having one for each colour possible.. except grey. i'm having the hardest time finding the perfect light-ish grey jumper (any tips, anyone?). from the amount of jumpers i now own, you wouldn't think i'd be so picky. funny how sometimes fashion can be like that.

anyway, this outfit is essentially fairly simple, but i think the jumper doesn't need too much else. plain navy skater skirt, new favourite brown hat, chelsea boots, done.

p.s i think this jumper might be able to pass as a christmas jumper. first christmas related post of the season, yeah!

wearing my two current favourite colours together today. i absolutely adore this jumper, it takes all my strength not to wear it in every single outfit. and i couldn't think of a more autumnal colour to pair it with than these burgundy shorts. dream colour combo right now.

also wearing a faux fur stole (i think it's a stole, or is it a scarf, or a collar?) to keep my neck warm as a lovely alternative to a scarf. i don't tend to like faux fur, i know that fur coats are usually a blogger favourite in the winter months, but when i got one last year as part of the asos future stylist challenge i did, it just completely swamped me and i (shamefully) haven't worn it since. maybe i'll bust it out again if it gets really cold. which, let's face it, it will, because this is england.

i finally own something in a duck egg colour. it truly is my all-time favourite colour (my room is painted almost this exact colour.. ), it's just so dreamy and awesome.

i'm wearing my favourite autumn colours with my favourite pattern. i love this mustard skirt - my local h&m FINALLY got a h&m trend section and they had so many nice things, but i had to restrain myself and walked out with just this skirt.

and as for this cardigan - softest thing i own. i love that it's burgundy but with a very vague purple-ish tinge to it.

super duper mega fun day playing in the leaves in my favourite park in the city. sadly i only get to visit the city maybe a couple times a month, otherwise i would take ALL of my photos here. i'm always happiest when in a park. especially one absolutely full to the brim with autumnal leaves for me to kick/throw around.

forest green and navy are probably my two favourite colours. which meant i really loved this outfit. oh, and another hat is now mine... i'm really becoming obsessed with them. this one is quite different to my usuals though, it's brown and actually not a bowler hat.. but the colour is so autumnal. also meet my new boots.. they are absolutely perfect. just the right heel height for me, and chelsea-boot style. these babies will go with everything.

really bright jumper! it's even brighter in person, i felt like a walking tomato. i love the little details in it like the lived-in sleeves and ladders down the front. i really did mean it when i said i can't stop buying jumpers... i think i even have a couple more yet to show you!

i'm currently on the hunt for a fairisle or similar jumper too, but it's hard finding the perfect one, plus i'm so picky when it comes to patterns (unless it's dots or stripes.. although even then they have to be the right size or width...), it's quite annoying when i know i like something but can't bring myself to part with my money because it's not JUST right.

lovely lovely lace shorts. these were only £16.75 i think, which is so good compared to topshops prices, and you're that little bit less likely to walk down the street and see 3 other people in your clothes. they're coming across as purpley in the photos but they're much more burgundy in person.

i've had this jumper for well over a year now, and i know i could never part with it. it's massive on, with nice long sleeves (i'm one of those people who holds their sleeves like a child) and a go-with-everything colour. i decided to wear very autumnal colours, anchored with lots of black. autumn, i love you.

i'd been on the hunt for something perfect in forest green for the longest time. i love this colour so, so much, but there's sadly not that much of it around. it's the nicest jumper i own, i think.

i thought i'd wear jeans for a change, i used to wear jeans and only jeans, but i hadn't worn a pair (on the blog, at least) in ages. these are probably too small, but i only have these and a blue denim pair. i'm not sure why, but i always feel at least a foot shorter when i wear jeans.

it was the windiest day here, i really had trouble getting these photos, getting my fringe to stay put and not have my scarf blow away. i can sense this winter is going to be a real struggle for outfit photos. also, i swear i'm not actually this pale...

these trousers get more and more amazing with every wear. i'm actually a bit scared to wear them incase i rip/stretch/stain them... i love them too much. without doubt the best item of clothing i own. hopefully the lovely teal colour goes with the rusty coloured snood (love snoods, they're my hair saviour in winter) and it's not just my imagination.

i'm wearing slipper shoes. i disliked them at first, but they grew on me until i pretty much had to get a pair. they're so comfortable (um, like slippers..) and just a little bit different. although this purchase has comfirmed to me that i am becoming far too middle-aged.

best trousers in the world ever. there is no question that these trousers are the best item of clothing i have ever owned. they are such a gorgeous colour, the perfect fit, and the little black polka dots are in fact velvet. amazing.

really enjoying wearing trousers/jeans lately instead of always wearing skirts/shorts with tights. also enjoying the navy jumper i'm wearing, i finally found a lovely jumper in navy, the sleeves are wider than i'd have liked (yes, i'm picky) but i love it. this is probably in my top 5 all-time outfits i've ever worn.

for the last 6 months, i haven't bought a single thing in h&m. i think it must just be my local one that's a bit rubbish, because i kept seeing so many nice things on blogs etc and wishing i could find it, but whenever i went in it was full of rubbish things. so i was very pleased to find this jumper, skirt and hat after wandering in the other day. h&m has really reasonable prices - this jumper is 12.99, which is such a steal! so glad my h&m drought is over.

this faux leather skirt will become a permanent fixture in so many of my outfits soon, i can't get enough leather lately!

fiiinally had a haircut! feels so good to have it back up to my shoulders (my standard cut). it's funny how much difference having a few inches of hair snipped off can make to how you feel/look. it means you can now properly see the awesome studded collar on this jacket! which i am getting many, many wears out of.

also, at last i found a new hat. you probably didn't even notice - it doesn't look too much different to my usual hat, but it's quite a bit smaller and cuter.

so, i told you i was a trousers convert. here i am in the 'cerise' version of my mustard trousers. they fit me just as amazing as my other pair, but i have to say i'm not sold on the colour. i ordered them online and hoped they'd be more of a red colour.. but they're actually pretty bright fuschia pink (or 'cerise' as topshop call it... they're actually quite a bit brighter in person than these photos). sadly, i'm not a bright pink girl so these babies are being sent back.

spotted this striped top too, and considering stripes are my second favourite pattern right now (do stripes count as a pattern?), i bought it. will wear it with everything.

COAT TIME! it was probably a liiittle too warm to wear a coat yet, but i don't care, nothing is going to stop me dressing autumnul-y from here on in. i bought this coat at the arse end of spring, and therefore only wore it a couple of times before it became too warm and i got funny looks from people in flip-flops. but it's such a nice coat, just the right amount of thickness to last me until it becomes too cold and i have to bust out my hardcore winter coat. this is my autumn coat, i think.

wearing it with a lovely cream coloured cable-knit jumper i found in tesco, of all places, and my current favourite skirt. i can't get enough of navy right now, but there doesn't seem to be that much of it in stores at the moment. i'm after a big, cosy navy jumper next.

dressing like a bumblebee today, which is always a good thing. can't stop wearing these trousers, they're so comfortable and the colour still amazes me. i've also just bought them in 'cerise', which is so unlike me as i never buy 2 of anything, but i loved these ones so much, plus i knew they would fit. i'm a trouser convert.

i was contacted by goldie london, which is a brand i really love (you've seen me wearing one of their sheer skirts recently), and they asked me to pick something from their website to wear. i'd been after a leather jacket for quite a while, but couldn't find one i really liked, but when i saw this one i was sold. ideally i was after a plain one instead of one with a studded collar, but i thought what the heck, this one is too nice to pass up. it's so soft, and will match with so many things. it's ideal!

here's the blouse from a couple of posts ago! it is amazing. i find it really quite hard not to incorporate a polka dot of some kind into every outfit i wear. and burgundy continues it's run as my current favourite colour.

i've been asking you to comment with any questions you have so that you could get to know me a bit more. i don't really talk much about myself on this blog past what i'm wearing/what i want to be wearing, so i thought it'd be nice to answer some questions. et voila -

what kind of camera and lens do you use?
i use a canon 1000d, and usually a 50mm 1.8 lens. i have to say, i bought the camera for the sole purpose of blogging, and don't really know how to use it properly (awful, i know). but i do intend to learn soon!

how do you deal with the fitting issue when ordering online?
until i read this question, i'd never even thought about this. i've been a size uk10 for aslong as i can remember, and always order this size unless something looks a bit tight and then i'll order a 12. a few sites have started using user reviews which i find really helpful, it's so handy to be able to know other peoples experiences with the item i'm hoping to buy. otherwise, if something does happen not to fit, then almost all stores have a free returns policy and so i'll just send it back.

who are the people you find most fashionably inspiring?
i always, always answer this question with alexa chung. i know it's such a blogger cliche, but she never gets it wrong. but, let's be honest, she's not got the most attainable wardrobe, and barely anyone is actually that beautiful. so, really, i get most of my inspiration from other bloggers. it's inspiring seeing real people wearing real clothes, and with real opinions too. i really am so pleased to be a part of this community!

when did your passion for hats start?
i don't think i do have a passion for hats. i have a passion for HAT, singular, because i do always wear the same black bowler hat in every single outfit. this isn't necessarily through choice - for a start, i can't find any other cheap, nice replacements. and also, i really think that hats help ground your outfit, and my photos look so sparse and dull without them. in reality i only own 3 hats, the black one and two straw hats!

how do you style your hair? is it your natural colour?
i've never been fussed about my hair. it's so, so thick (i have the same amount of hair on my head as 3 people, apparently) and is neither naturally straight, curly or wavy. it's just a mess. usually i dry it quickly with a hairdryer (without using any products usually), then straighten it to get rid of the frizz, then curl it with a conical wand. that's pretty much it, i've never liked my hair all that much. and it is my natural colour, i have dyed it various shades of brown in the past though. i have to admit i do love brown hair, i'd never change the colour of it.

what is your day job? do you wear your outfits to work?
my day job is nothing at all to do with fashion. i've been a trainee accountant for 4 years now, which means i work 9-5 in an office monday to friday. it's not the most ideal job for me, but it pays the bills (and my clothing habit..) and working with great people helps. it's not what i want to do career-wise (though i don't know what i do want to do either) but it is a very good job. i have to wear boring, smart outfits for work, which being a blogger and fashion enthusiast, is very difficult. it's just plain black trousers/plain top or blouse for me. worst part of my job for sure!

do you work in fashion or aspire to work as a stylist, or is blogging just a hobby?
as above, so blogging is just a hobby for me right now. i'd love to work in fashion, sure, but i think the fashion world can be very fast paced and intimidating and i'm just not into that kind of job. i would love to be a stylist, but i don't have any interest really in fashion weeks/editorials/collections (ah, blogger suicide i know!) because they are just not attainable to me and i like relatable fashion that i can afford. but if an opportunity came along i sure would take it!

what else do you like to do when you're not blogging?
the same as most people, i guess. i'm a big big music lover (last.fm profile here for anyone interested), and love a good cinema trip/film night. i also love finding a new tv show to watch, buying the boxset and getting engrossed in it. i don't drink, so i'm not a big night out/club person, i prefer a relaxing pub trip with a coke in my hand. i'm quite laid back so i'm happiest just hanging out, grabbing a starbucks and talking about anything and everything.

i can't get over these trousers! despite not being a trousers person, i absolutely love these. i was concerned the colour wouldn't go with much, but i've already found so many things to wear with them! including this jumper... which i'd go as far as to say is the best thing i've bought all year (the trousers being a close second...!), it's so versatile, soft and generally perfect.

also wearing some boots i found in new look. i don't tend to shop there, but i browse the website every now and then, and i have to say, right now they have some really nice things in stock! i've bought a few things from there in the last week or so, including a red blouse (which is something i've wanted for so long) and some leather shorts! new look - i'm a fan.

i'm selling some of my clothes on ebay which sadly don't get enough love from me - go have a look and see if there's anything you like, there's lots of topshop and asos, and some vintage stuff too!

say hi to my schoolgirl skirt. i love anything in navy, but after realising i don't actually own that much navy, i quickly bought this skirt. i love the pleats, and it's really thick too so will be perfect for autumn (and maybe winter with some thick woolen tights).

another thing i don't own much of, at all, is green. but this jumper caught my eye, the colour is so unique. and as i am currently in the process of slowly bankrupting myself in the pursuit of amazing winter clothes, this jumper just had to be bought. this is a colour combination that i'm not 100% sure of, but after i added this amazing blouse underneath to add a bit of pattern, i was convinced. i can't wait to show you all the blouse!

i can't really get enough of this skirt! it's such a nice colour, and it looks perfect with a simple denim shirt. such a comfortable outfit - except for when i sit down, and the poppers on the skirt pop open. big potential for embarassment in public.

i can't actually believe i'm wearing trousers. and mustard trousers, at that. but i think this is my attempt at maybe dressing more grown-up. i think in my head i associate trousers with adults/being a grown-up. as you may have noticed, i never wear trousers, ever. not even jeans. i used to wear nothing but jeans, honestly nothing but them, i never wore dresses, or skirts or shorts. until about 2 years ago when i properly discovered fashion, thanks to the world of blogging.

i was worried about the fit of these, i'm quite 'curvy' round my hips & thighs and i wasn't sure how they'd look, but in the end i love the colour so much, and they are so damn comfortable, that i don't even care if they make my thighs look huge. i'm loving shades like mustard and burgundy for autumn, i don't really buy into trends but i can't get enough of 'jewel tones'.

but i think i'm now a trousers convert - i'm now on the hunt for a burgundy pair.

i'd considered wearing my leather shorts with this jumper instead of the red skirt. i felt as though the red was too much of a clash with the stripes, but as soon as i put the outfit on i loved how it looked! so much for my idea of only wearing pastels and floaty things this summer, ha.

i love how this jumper is cut like a t-shirt, with the short sleeves and v-neck. it's so big, and made of that kind of wool that is really itchy, but i love how vibrant it is and i can't wait to wear it in autumn!

i don't usually wear monochrome outfits, i almost always wear a colour of some sort, but this outfit felt good for only being black and white. it's quite a flouncy, ladylike outfit and if it wasn't for the ankle boots and hat i'd have felt quite frumpy, actually. but i love this blouse from asos, and i still love this skirt too.

not too many photos of this outfit sadly the weather was being completely rubbish.

how excited am i to have another scalloped item of clothing? um, very. even better? they were £10 in the sale. and they're red, which is one of my favourite colours at the moment. for some reason, after i bought them, the first thing that popped into my head to wear with them was this jumper. i've always liked camel with red. oh and say hi to my new bag, which is pretty much perfect. perfect size, perfect colour, perfect shape and a pretty perfect price (i can't believe it only cost £32).

i definitely love stripes almost as much as polka dots. they're so easy and fun to style, and a jumper like this one will look good with almost every single colour.

this sheer skirt is lovely, it has an asymmetrical hem and looks amazing when the wind blows! it was quite pricey considering it's essentially a bit of sheer material, but i've convinced myself i'll wear it all the time. i can imagine it in autumn with a cable knit jumper...

this is an example of one of those outfits that i like at the time, but i look back on these photos and think, UGH. i'm getting this a lot lately - i'm really feeling stuck in a fashion-y rut. i try to buy things i love, but at the same time occasionally buying things which are a bit different to try and push myself out of my fashion comfort zone. even then, there are things i'd love to try (i've been thinking about trying tapered trousers in a lovely colour for a while now...) but i just know my body shape won't work with them, i hate when that happens!

then again, i've always prefered dressing in autumn/winter/spring than summer, i guess because of certain issues with my body (i really, really don't like my legs, meaning tights with no shorts is a real struggle for me!). thank goodness all the shops are already stocking a/w things - i'm already looking forward to layering more!

i love the idea of peach with navy & white stripes, so this outfit was a joy to wear. it's hard to believe i'm wearing a jumper in july, but the english weather has been so awful lately that it feels like january (it's supposed to rain constantly for the rest of the week so posts might be very few and far between for a while!). but yes, i'm wearing a jumper, but the material of it is so thin and lightweight that it doesn't feel like one. besides, with topshop already stocking hats, coats and scarves, i'm already looking forward to autumn (my favourite season for dressing!).

i spotted that carrie had done a blog post (< click link!) after buying this same suede skirt and also finding the length a bit too long. i'm way too awkward at sewing etc to attempt chopping the bottom off like she did, but i'm so confused by the length of the skirt - i think it looks alright in these photos but when wearing it it felt way longer!

so, it was my birthday on friday and to celebrate i decided to go shopping. my first stop was, as always, topshop. the sale was on so i was super excited and didn't know where to look first, so i wandered over to the shoe section. there, staring at me was these perfect perfect boots. black and wonderful, go-with-everything boots. but oh! no! they were a size 6 and i am very much a 7. but, out of sheer determination to own them i tried them on anyways and.. they fit! it was a birthday miracle. the best part... they were only £20!

anyway, enough of my shoe story, and onto the outfit. this skirt verges very much on being grannyish, so i decided to toughen it up with aforementioned boots and my old favourite hat and some polka dots.

hi! this is my first proper 'courtesy of' item i think, and i couldn't be more pleased with it (thank you chicwish!). the print is just so sweet and, despite me being a poo blogger and not getting a shot of it thanks to my mass of hair covering it, has the biggest (and therefore best) peter pan collar too. don't think i'll ever stop being obsessed with them. it also has my favourite kind of shape too, where it flares out under your boobies. so good for flattering my less-than-flat stomach! i have to say though, i don't want to become one of those 'courtesy of' bloggers where almost everything in the outfit was free.

the lighting in these photos is shockingly poor, i've felt like the worst blogger lately because i just can't seem to get my photos to look as dreamy and nice as i'd like. despite having a DSLR i really have no idea how to use it properly and i'm sooo not a photographer, sometimes blogging can be so tough, especially when you end up with photos that you're just not happy with despite loving the outfit. half the time i'm convinced the photos don't show quite how nice my outfit is! well, i can only keep trying!

here's a slightly better shot of my new bag, and how cute is it! it's another one of my sale finds, this time from asos. it's just big enough to hold the most important stuff (purse, phone, keys, lipbalm and gum) and it is just ideal.

these shorts were also a sale find from asos, i'd had my beady eye on them for a while but at £85 they were waayyy too expensive (and to be honest they're not the best quality for £85), but when i saw they were just £21 i knew i was having them. they're a little creased in these shots (wearing straight out of the package again, tut) but i couldn't wait to wear them. i'm picturing them with polka dots....

how much do i love this tee? um, quite a bit. i've loved fleetwood mac since i was small as they're one of my dads favourite bands so there was lot of album-listening when i was young. very happy to have snagged it - though the material is really thick so wearing it on this hot day wasn't the best idea.

i got this skirt in the topshop sale, i was tempted to buy it when it was full price but i'm glad i waited. it's so so heavy though, and you only do it up with these poppers, so my boyfriend spent the whole day threatening to rip them open, leaving me stood there with the skirt around my ankles. charming. whenever i sat down at least one of them would pop open, so you have to be careful! it's such a nice colour though, and my very first suede purchase.

snagged this cardigan in the topshop sale. i wasn't immediately sold on it, i'm not really a pink kind of girl, but this is a nice dusky pink and this is my way of doing crochet without displaying my arse/boobs to everyone. decided to wear it with one on my favourite dresses, this dress brings my love of stripes to a whole new level - despite it making me look kinda pregnant?!

despite not being a fan of dressing in summer, i have to say the more outfits i put together for the warmer weather the easier i find it. the english weather really doesn't help though; one minute it's windy, cold and tights weather, the next it's warm, legs and no layers weather.

this blouse is the nicest colour! it appears to be glowing in these photos... it's not quite as bright in person though. but i love the cut of it, and the little collar just gets me everytime. i'm not usually a bright colours girl (i'm trying really hard, and apparently failing, to have a predominantly pastel wardrobe this summer), so this is easily the brightest thing in my wardrobe.

whilst i really like this outfit, i'm really missing layering. the warmer weather is great but wearing outfits like this, which are so simple, make me feel like i'm dressed rather boringly. i think that's why some of my favourite bloggers right now are australian, as they're now dressing for autumn! i'm just not great at summer dressing, but i'm going to make the most of this lovely weather and attempt to actually get some sort of a tan this year.

look who's back! yah, after being shunned for the past few months in favour of my straw hats, i decided it was time to wear my bowler hat again. i've actually really missed wearing it and definitely noticed the difference it can make to an outfit compared to if i'd worn a straw hat instead.

this skirt is so fun! it's actually meant to be knee-length, but i'm soo not a knee-length girl, so yanked it up to right under my boobs and now it's the perfect length. also decided to try something different with my blouses and tied the bottoms of this amazing coloured topshop beauty, which i think looks great and changed the whole feel of the outfit instead of just tucking it in.

as soon as i saw this dress on asos.com, i added to basket sooo fast. i love skater-style dresses as i find them quite flattering for my figure, and i'm loving white lately, and i've always loved lace. so this was a complete no-brainer, despite it potentially looking like something a 5 year old would wear to their birthday party (infact that makes me love it more).

i never, ever thought i'd see myself wearing a midi skirt. but after seeing blogger after blogger wearing one and looking amazing, i convinced myself it was time i tried one too. i knew exactly what i wanted - sheer, pleated, and in a lovely pastel shade. as you can see, i found the perfect one. i had so many concerns before i tried it on; i'd look stumpy, it'd be too see-through, it just plain old wouldn't suit me. but i love it. twirling in it is just the most fun i've had with clothes in ages.

i wore it with this white crop, which is so nice but the weirdest fit, it's all baggy round the arms. and i always jump at an oppurtunity to wear this cardigan. i think it looks best with pastels.

only a couple of shots of this outfit because the photos didn't come out very well. (i hate when that happens!)

this outfit is kinda matchy-matchy, but i love burgundy with white/cream. i love how it's warm enough to have your legs out, but still cold enough to wear a cardigan over things. the thing with england is that it can change from being warm one minute, and then cold the next, even in summer, and it's pretty hard to dress for weather like that.

as you can see from photo no. 3, it was VERY windy this day! i thought i'd throw that shockingly bad photo in there just for some lols. i purposely wore my flounciest top to make the photos a bit more interesting. i'm really loving sheer things right now. as for this top, it was in the topshop sale and despite it being really not 'me', i thought why not try something different. i quite like it, but it was super difficult trying to find something to wear with it.

i really, really love this outfit. i was hesitant at first because these shorts are quite short and i'm nervous about my legs, but in the end i was so happy with the outfit that i didn't even think about it. i'm wearing sunglasses here, the sun was in and out all day. i don't wear sunglasses often, particularly for photos, i don't think i have a sunglasses face. i always feel so pretentious wearing them for photos! i'm also wearing my converse again, right now i'm opting for maximum comfort. for no reason, really, but i just love wearing them.

i love wearing my converse, obviously without a doubt they are the most comfortable shoes around, but when it comes to taking outfit photos with them i always worry i'll look stumpy, so i made sure to stand just a bit on tiptoes!

there's just something awesome about wearing lace with denim. i hadn't worn this jacket in a year, but when pondering what to wear with this dress it just jumped out at me. this is such a simple and easy outfit but i really love it.

this is one of the best outfits i've worn in a while, i just love all these colours together. this skirt is actually a fair bit shorter than it looks, i couldn't really bend over much.

this spot is my new favourite for taking outfit photos. it's all leafy and i love the way bricks make a photo look. does anyone else have a favourite spot?

wearing my very favourite dress! i try not to show it too often on my blog because it's quite a noticeable dress and i don't want you to get bored of it, but i wear it quite often. it always makes me smile. i just love it with this burgundy cardigan, although i felt like maybe the colour scheme here is too autumnal? it's not quite pastel-y enough for spring/summer!

i took these photos with my new 50mm lens, and i was still getting used to it so some of these photos are kinda blurry. it's a great lens though, and i'm hoping it'll make my blog look just a little bit snazzier.

this dress is lovely and floaty, but the top half is way too flouncy (and low-cut, actually) for how i was feeling this day. so, the obvious choice was to wear my new favourite t-shirt over it. i really enjoyed wearing this, it felt quite 'me'. it's girly but not too girly, and comfortable.

this is one of those outfits that i quite liked at the time but i look back on now and feel a bit neutral about. does anyone else get that? these shorts are really rather tight, and i'm definitely not the smallest-hipped person. these are probably the tightest shorts i own, as i usually tend to go for looser, more flattering for my body shape type things, but my current obsession with red means i'm wearing these again and again. also just noticed i missed a belt loop - how annoying!

p.s promise to stop wearing this hat soon.

i have to say, i really love sheer blouses. they make me nervous when in public, but i love how floaty and girly they are. this yellow one is no exception, it's the most lovely mustard colour. decided to pair it with my super-versatile denim skirt, and to make sure the outfit wasn't too plain i added my leopard print belt, although i realise now that you can barely see it.

and yes, i know what you're thinking, and you're right - this hat just never leaves my head.

kind of obsessed with stripes. i'm so glad i finally found a red striped breton top, i'd wanted one for ages and had imagined it with these shorts before i'd even bought it. and these shorts are really special, i just can't get enough of the tassels!

i'm wearing this sock and shoe combination again, because it's just so comfortable. hard to walk in though, i'm always wobbling and almost falling over in them! i felt very nautical in this outfit, but i live by the beach so i think that's okay. i love dressing nautical-y, it's my favourite way of dressing lately, i just love stripes, navy and straw hats.

after cheating on dots with stripes a lot lately, it was time to return to my trusty friend, the polka dot. i've noticed a pattern lately of me buying a lot of dungaree/apron-ish type dresses and playsuits, i think because they remind me of my favourite person, alexa chung (oh i'm such a typical blogger). the low sides of this playsuit means it has to be worn with something, and the obvious choice right now is my bike print t-shirt. i'm really looking forward to styling it with some other things soon.

aaand the obsession with red continues, this time in the form of shorts. these are so great, so bright (though i do not class this as colour blocking...) and high-waisted (an absolute must for me) and so cheap, i think they were £12. considering them in black too. i knew the first thing i was going to pair them with was one of my most treasured items i've ever owned, this sheer topshop blouse. red and polka dots is a winning combo in my book.

also somehow managed to buy 2 things which i pretty much already owned.. this straw hat and these espadrilles. the shoes are so cute though, and as far as i'm concerned it's not possible to own too many straw hats....

helllooo lovely floral dress! as i think i've mentioned before, i'm very picky with my prints and despite being a huge floral fan, can never justify spending money on a floral item without really loving the print. this one is just right. i'm actually wearing it backwards, despite at the time thinking this was the right way.. the back (/front..) has a cut out section that i figured was way too boob-exposing to be right.. turns out it must be acceptable to flash your bangers in florals.

how super mega cute is this t-shirt? i don't normally ever wear t-shirts as the necklines don't often suit me, but this one has a nice big neck and lovely turned up sleeves and the bike on the front sold me. i don't even own a bike but now i have one on my top, it's almost as if i do. i wanted to wear it for the first time with denim shorts, but in the end opted for my favourite red skirt, which is getting a lot of wear and i always enjoy wearing it.

i felt like wearing socks with this outfit but rather than go for plain ones, went for these striped ones. looks kinda different but it makes the outfit a little bit more interesting.

the lovely people over at motel contacted me and asked me to choose something from their summer collection to wear and show you guys. the one thing my wardrobe is missing is a navy dress, and considering navy is one of my very favourite colours to wear, i pretty much had to choose this dress. it's such a nice fit, and the cut-out back is a great touch. they also do it in red, too! it was so hard to choose as they have a lot of pretty dresses.

we took these photos down by the docks, and knowing that we were going there, i had to dress with a slight nautical theme. this cardigan was an obvious choice! i really am liking stripes lately.

i can't believe this weather we've been having! since when was it this warm in april? anyway, no outfit feels complete anymore without this hat. it instantly makes what i'm wearing feel twice as summery.

this dress is an ebay purchase which i paid way, way too much for a couple months ago. when it arrived it was different to how i had imagined and i became a bit 'meh' about it and never wore it, but all of a sudden i decided it was time to give it a go, and i like it. the material is weird and it's too long (hense the belt to pull it up a bit) but it's actually really nice afterall. and it goes nicely with the socks and shoes. i used to hate the socks with shoes trend, i think because i have to be careful which socks to wear or else my legs look super stumpy, but i love these white ones with these clog wedges.

busted out some topshop clog-ish wedge shoes i got last summer. i barely wore them then, but they seem to go with more of the clothes i have now. they're surprisingly difficult to walk in, it's like walking with bricks strapped to your feet, but they're very comfortable.

just threw this outfit together quickly, which is something i don't do often - i tend to really plan my outfits, and even then suffer from 'would it look better with this instead' or 'maybe i shouldn't wear this with that' etc. i'm definitely prone to overthinking my outfits. i wish i could be more effortless with my dressing... sadly that's just one more reason why i'll never be alexa chung!

i'm not sure about this outfit. i ordered these shorts from forever21 after seeing them online, they looked great on the model - but sadly they look not-so-great on me. the material is very thin and creases easily, and i don't think they're very flattering. it's a shame as the colour is lovely. forever21 seems to be very hit and miss.

what i'm wearing also seems kinda formulaic, shorts+blouse+cardigan. there's nothing wrong with that of course, but i've been trying to push myself out of my shorts+blouse+cardigan comfort zone lately. more dresses and skirts is what i'm aiming for these days. not that i'd ever stop wearing shorts, or cardigans, they're 2 of my favourite clothing items!
