insta-autumn

in the absence of a functioning camera, i figured i'd shower you all with a few instagram snaps from the last few weeks. these pretty much demonstrate my idea of autumn dressing, along with my love for a good black ankle boot (you can never have too many). always love to wear a stripe, aswell as some tartan/checks.

teddy bear

coat - topshop (old), jumper & skirt - zara, boots - office.

i call this coat my teddy bear coat, for reasons that are pretty obvious - this coat is essentially made of a giant teddy bear. which is everything you could want in a coat, right? so cuddly. oh and it goes with everything (i hear versatility is a big deal). i also wanted to post this (crappy, iphone-taken) photo to illustrate that LOOK! AUTUMN IS HERE! LEAVES! i can't say my hair is enjoying the sudden rain/wind situation but boy am i enjoying jumpers again.

drop red

dress - urban outfitters, bag & shoes - zara.

i used to be afraid, very afraid, of a drop-waist. they feel kind of like a peplum that's sagged. but this dress has changed my mind with it's cute print and not-too-tenty fit. i also caved and bought one of those pairs of zara heels in the sale (damn you zara sale, damn you).

floaty

oh boy it's been hot hasn't it? apparently not hot enough for me to stop wearing jeans, though. i still added summery vibes to this outfit though with the floaty blouse & straw hat, which i've had for so long that i couldn't even tell you where it's from! i scored this blouse in the zara sale, i love it's tiny little polka dots (yep, still a big fan of those...). i never used to be a huge fan of zara but lately i've pretty much wanted EVERYTHING FROM ZARA EVER.

denim, dungarees

 jacket, top & playsuit - topshop, bag - zara, boots - office.

so this is my take on the whole dungaree trend - i'm not sure if i could quite pull off denim dungarees, but gosh darn it if i'm not very tempted to try. but for now, black will do. paired with trusty stripes & a denim jacket that might just be the coolest thing in my wardrobe, i'm all set for this mad english weather we're having. tights in june, really? although secretly i'm just thankful i don't have to show the world my crazy pale legs quite yet.

striped pastels

i can't even count how many times i've worn this outfit! it's one of my very favourites. i wear this jumper all the time, it's so versatile, and i think i'm starting to prefer stripes to polka dots. i can't say i've bought into the pastel trend too much (everything on offer seemed to just be too sweet), but this skirt won me over with it's cute details.

also just to say, i've been quite overwhelmed with how much of a positive and kind response i've had from you all since i started blogging again! thank you!

that's mint

jacket, skirt, tee - topshop, hat - h&m, bag - zara, shoes - office.

oh gee whizz, this skirt is something else. mint is a colour i really love, therefore this skirt is something i really love. keeping it simple with the rest of the outfit, just black & white. the thought of wearing a cropped tea used to fill me with dread (pale stomach on full show? oh god oh god) but after giving it way more thought than i should have, i figured that i only really wear high-waisted bottom halves therefore the most people would ever see would be a flash of rib. conclusion: i bought this tee.

also, super sorry for doing the whole jacket-on-shoulder thang but the outfit felt a bit bare without the jacket but i didn't want to actually wear it. blogger woes.

white mustard

coat - topshop, jumper & bag - zara, skirt - topshop boutique, boots - office.

this coat just works with stripes. you might think it'd be too much of a clash but it's completely not. when i first spotted this coat online i thought no, no no, it's too bright - but i was lured in by the fact it was in the sale (who can resist a sale? it's so much easier to convince yourself to take a sartorial risk when the price is lower), and i'm glad i took that chance on it. it doesn't go with everything, but it's the coat i always reach for when an outfit needs a bit of a boost - or in this case, to stop me from looking too much like a sailor (although that might not have been a bad thing).

back, in (mostly) black

so, it's taken slightly longer than i'd hoped (10 months!), but i'm finally back to blogging. it feels crazy good to be writing a blog post again. the reason it's been so long is really just because my camera broke, and this coincided with a real disillusionment with blogging in general. i'm still not happy with my blog or the quality of my posts - but it's something i'm determined to work on.

but back to the important stuff - the clothes. i've accumulated a ridiculous amount of new clothes over the past few months, including everything you see above. i don't usually wear almost all black, but there's something about black jeans that calls for a black leather jacket, and of course, my usual black hat.

firstly - big sorry for not blogging in (gasp) 2 months! my camera's broken (these were taken with my trusty iphone), and in all honesty i've just been in a bit of a blogging/style slump. hopefully things can get back to normal soon!

but, i knew i couldn't wear this jumper and not take photos of it - it's got a cats face on it for goodness sake! the weird thing is, i don't even like cats much (i'm a dog person), but i was strangely drawn to it, & the amount of people who've told me they like it proves that it was a worthy purchase! paired it with the comfiest jeans ever, and vaguely carried on the cat theme with these leopard wedges i scored for £20 in the topshop sale, they're not exactly 'me' but they're actually dead nice.

firstly, huge huge sorry for not having blogged in weeks, i've just not had the time (or the weather, for that matter) to take any photos! but finally i've got something to post, hurrah.

so here i am sporting what everyone takes great delight in pointing out is a pyjama top, which is totally fine by me - i love wearing pyjamas. this top is silk so as you can imagine it creases so easily and is quite a hassle to wear, but by jolly if i don't absolutely love it. oh, and these denim shorts have leather pockets. that is all.

dream trousers

oh bloody hell, these trousers. topshop, thank you for making these. i already own them in teal (i'm sure you know the ones i'm talking about), and i didn't think i could love a pair of trousers any more, until these came along. the colour is really specific, not quite a lilac but not quite light blue. 

as for this jumper, it goes with everything. i will always prefer navy to black.

favourite things; cheap hat

this outfit is basically a mash-up of all my favourite things. polka dots, leather, grey jumper and a good hat. speaking of this hat, it cost me a POUND. a bloody POUND! while having a nosey around the topshop sale i headed over to the accessories section and, being a hat fan, was drawn to this solitary hat sitting on it's own on a shelf. after noticing it was £1, i had to have it. it's a lovely colour, but a funny shape. either way, it's earned it's place in my collection.

mint & stripes

i'm finally back with a blog post! the weather has just been too awful to even think about doing outfit photos. frizz and soggy knitwear does not a good blog post make. but here i am, rocking a nice stripe, and in a very spring-like move, some pastel. i went crazy for all those royal colours over winter, so it's good to have a change, and i do love all these nice paler colours.

doubling up

doing double denim, and some heels again.. what's happening to me?! but surely a good pair of t-bar wedges are like a wardrobe essential. no?

i've been really bored of skirts/shorts with tights lately and am finding myself wearing jeans with everything, and i'm actually enjoying it. i seem to have this obsession with rolling things up - i do it with shirts, jumpers, jeans... it just makes things look a bit less dressy. i'm sooo not dressy.

if you replace the heels with converse or loafers, this is pretty much what i wear on a daily basis. i love chucking on a band tee (this bruce springsteen one being my favourite, such a fan of the boss) and either jeans or a comfy skirt.
